Location : Tutbury, Derbyshire

Appointment Type : Full Time

Salary : £34,000 – £36,000 + bonuses


An exciting management opportunity has risen with our client who in the process of opening a residential children’s care home. They are looking for a Residential Manager to manage a new mixed gender Children’s Home registering for 4-bedded young people aged 8 years to 17 years.

This is a fantastic opportunity, reporting directly to the Director’s working for a children’s organisation with incredible career progression, offering stability, staff care, funded training and support to gain relevant skills and qualifications.


Overall Purpose of Role

To develop and maintain effective management of an exceptional quality residential home for our young people. To work within and ensure effective delivery of the main responsibilities and identified within the role of a Registered Manager. The position will require an enhanced DBS check and ongoing training and support is provided by the company.

  • Home Registered Manager and fulfil the requirements as set out in the Department for Education The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 including Quality Standards
  • Ensure the Young People are being appropriately cared for in accordance with aims and objectives of the Children Acts 1989 & 2004, Care Standards Act 2000 and other relevant legislation & organisation policies.
  • To assist in the process of child care planning meetings e.g. LAC Reviews, Statutory meetings, Professionals Meetings, Child Protection Conferences.
  • To contribute to the development of the organisation policies and practice guidance.
  • To ensure that anti-discriminatory/oppressive practices and issues of diversity are actively pursued in both recruitment and practice.
  • To provide effective management support to colleagues and organisation including out of hours support and covering other managers.
  • To lead the team and facilitate effective and appropriate communication between staff and management.


Requirements of the post

  • Either of: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management of Residential Childcare / NVQ 4 in Childcare.
  • Or a Social Work qualification (DipSW/Degree or equivalent).
  • Within the last five years, worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children.
  • Minimum 12 months of supervisory and management of staff working in a caring role.
  • An understanding of the complexities of balancing legislations associated with children’s residential home.
